2017 May Festival of the Arts in Eureka Springs
The arts come alive every spring during the annual May Festival of the Arts and there’s nothing quite like it! This unique, month-long festival celebrates art that makes Eureka Springs the creative capital of Arkansas and every artist has an opportunity to shine a spotlight on their work. This year festivities will feature dozens of special exhibits, demonstrations, artist’s receptions, gallery walks, free concerts, parades and much more! This event is perfect for a weekend getaway or a family vacation!
Come see for yourself how this quirky hamlet in the Ozarks lives up to its reputation during the annual May Festival of the Arts. The festival kicks off Saturday, May 6th with more than 75 events all month long. Each day of the entire month an event is taking place! Eureka Springs has more than 350 artists working in all mediums, and the festival is packed with one-of-a-kind art exhibits, gallery strolls, demonstrations and performances.
Also enjoy culinary arts experiences, live music in Basin Park, and a street party thrown by artists themselves: the 27th Annual White Street Art Walk on Friday May 19th features open house receptions, a street fair, a flash dance and other surprises!
Here are some highlights of the upcoming 2017 festival events:
Saturday, May 6th: The ArtRageous Parade
This annual favorite is colorful, quirky, energetic and sometimes surprising! The ArtRageous Parade is the traditional kick-off of the May Festival of the Arts. This year’s parade will feature floats, art cars, walkers, dancers, musicians, jugglers and the super popular, Africa in the Ozarks drum and dance group.
Sunday, May 7th: Dance of Deceit
An original play by Five & Dime Drama Collective will be performed at one of Eureka’s most beloved venues, The Auditorium. Locally written, produced and directed this multi-media production featuring area-native musicians is promised to amuse.
May 8th – 14th: Bridge of Love
Bring your own flowers and participate in the Bridge of Love! This event is a Mother’s Day Living Art Installation, to help you celebrate the women in your life. This art Installation lasts for 6 days underneath the Main Street Air Bridge (Basin Bath House Bridge).
Saturday, May 13th: Grand Gallery Stroll
Eureka Springs is known for it’s many art galleries and monthly Gallery Strolls. This year, the May Festival of the Arts brings us the Grand Gallery Stroll. Galleries will be producing specialized exhibits specifically for this event. Dress is casual, drop in and drop out. Fun is mandatory, purchasing is not. Refreshments (21+) will be served.
Music in the Park
Enjoy free live entertainment by some of the area’s most talented musicians on Saturdays at Basin Park. Bring your dancing shoes!
Sunday, May 21st: Books in Bloom
The Books in Bloom Literary Festival is a Celebration for both Writers and Readers! For a decade, this amazing festival, started by the Carroll and Madison Public Library Foundation, has promoted the value of books and reading. The Festival provides an opportunity for the public to meet authors and to hear them speak about their work and various aspects of writing and publishing. May 21st-25th: 2nd Annual Eureka Springs Plein Air Festival
Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Plein Air Festival “ESPAfest”! This event is May 21-25 at various beautiful and historic locations in Eureka Springs. Over 60 artists from across the country come together for four days of intense plein air painting in and around the beautiful town. Opening Reception to be held at the Eureka Springs School of the Arts Campus.

A Taste of Art
